just come back from seeing an E36 325 it has had a smack to the right fr ont which is repairable but not really worth it in my eyes,it started first time and sounds pretty sweet ,gearbox feels good ,bit i dont really want to take the alpina motor out as it wont be a n alpina anymore but i dont want to miss out on a good deal as he only wants Ԛ£400 for it,i suppose i could buy a shitter 316 and stick it in that for some fun.how quick are the 30's with the M52 motor or is it not really worth the hassle
your comments appreciated

I think you should keep the Alpina engine in tbh, would a be shame to take it out, as you said, it'll lose some of it's originality.

Buy something with a decent body and drop the m52 in it....wanted to do this same conversion, but the costs would have been to much for myself

Ԛ£400 is that just for the engine or gearbox too?

take no notice to the numbers on the plaque they have no sense to them! mine is 0450 but they never made that many C2's! and i have a plaque from an older car with 0531

infact i have just read my "book" and it says sytners hoped to sell 47! quote "Clearly this was not achieved" lol

Uk cars all had electric windows and drivers foot rest and appear not to have power steering. ???

it also states the car was not a sucess and was criticized for being to cammy. it also tells me buchloe built 35, but who knows about the RHD ones!

Alpina claimed a 0-100knh time of 7.8 seconds

Motor mag in england tested one on the 9th of june 1984 and hit 0-60 in 7 secs dead!

off topic, but don't kill it. Looked not too bad to me when i had a nose around at santa pod. I like the orange needles, my one doesn't have them

Dont spoil an Alpina for the sake of an M50, go and find one with a shagged engine to pull apart

sounds about right as i have leckie windows and footrest and yes it is a bit cammy to be honest but thats part of the fun also no power steering but my biceps are coming on nicely 8O
the condition it was in at the pod was shocking i was just there to make up the numbers really and to make sure the rebuilt head/fuel tank propshaft etc was all ship shape as we finished it at 12:30 friday night after it started to piss oil out of the sump and did'nt even have time for a wash so it had 2months of grime on it but it will get a good going over his weekend but still lots of work to do over the next year :?

M50B25 is the 2.5 from the E36 325i

M52B25 is the 2.5 from the E36 323i and the M52B28 is the 2.8 from the 328i.

If its in an E36 325i, it will be an M50.
