Right, I need to sort this. every now and then the 316i I look after seems to pull to the left quite severely, I've just renewed the front shocks and the tracking was set fine. and it was all good but it's come back so what could be the cause this time?

On the brakes, or just randomly?

The rubber is another factor to consider. Tyre's with a stiifer sidewall tend to tramline more than other tyres. Next time it happens have a look at the road surface to see if one wheel is on a different surface...ie the road had been dug up to lay some cabling and you have one wheel on a different tarmac to the other.
