my request for help comes from trying to work out the differences in these cars

i guess that the large bumper recesses are tech 2 kits but some of the bumpers have large rubstrips so is that tech 2 as well or are the recessed bumpers tech 2's that have been smoothed off?

The last car is a normal bumper with the bumpstrip and bumper colour coded.

A M-tech 2 has a bumper cover that has a recess in it...

The last car just has a M-Tech 2 front valance, door panels and skirts

the top car is a cabbie and they have different sills, therefore the normal tech2 kit doesn't fit (easily?) and so that cabbie has an alternate sill spoiler... E36?

yes

tech 2 bodykit is as above, tech 1 is erm... smaller bodykit - picture please somebody?

chrome bumper is pre-facelift, and plastic bumper post-facelift - changeover 1988 sometime?

no he doesn't mean that.. does he?

if you mean 'the bodykit that was an option attached by BMW to the pre-facelift cars' is mtech 1 then yes, if you mean chrome bumpers then no

it's been a long day for my brain

So the small brake light = mk1 (steel bumpers)
and the big brake light = mk2 (plastic bumpers)

first car is a mk1 with mk 2 bumpers

Right ?
