I've been looking for a standard E30 318 for a while and all the ones i have seen have the chrome trims around the windows which puts me off some of these cars were in great condition. I've been told there is a kit you can buy to de-chrome firstly is this right? also whats involved and where can you buy the kits from? i dont want to miss out on a good car if the chrome issue can be easily be sorted

Thanks

A lot of people use black insulation tape... But there are kits available, not sure where to get one from though...

The chrome issue can indeed be easily sorted - best to buy a second hand set of kit from someone.

You'll need:
Gutter strips
Rear 'kink' strips
door weather strips (or if a 2-door, easiest to replace the whole rear window)

They're much easier to install than remove.

Cheers,
Chris

you can mask the car up and etch the chrome window surrounds, and then just spray the window surronds black. i know a couple of guys that have done this.
