Hi I am new to thew forum and new to the world of bmw's too, I have just finished doing up my 1954 beetle and have purchased a bmw tourer with the intention of having a sensible car for once.... but unfortunately the bug has bitten again and I am now really keen to tidy it up and do a few subtle mods......... anyway back to the point......

I am having issues with the clutch not working at all here are the sytoms..

*the pedal has not got any feel what so ever and does not appear to be doing anything.

*if you loosen the bleed nipple and connect the pump to it, no fluid can be pulled through the system.

*the resevoir is full (to the correct level) and does not appear to be losing any fluid.

any ideas what the problem could be ? any help would be much appreciated :D

cheers

First of all, welcome :thumb:

Secondly, if youve got the bug for a few subtle mods this place will soon have you spending your cash.

And last but not least...

What pump?

If you loosen the bleed screw on the slave cylinder (on the gearbox) and get someone to depress the clutch pedal, fluid should come out.

thanks for the welcome, sorry should have been more clear, I have got a sealy pump that you can connect to hydraulic systems via the nipple to pull fluid through and get rid of air.....but when you depress the pedal no fluid comes out even though the res is full?

I'd be replacing the master (and slave, practically). Unless it's something odd like the res -> master hose being blocked. They can get a bit tatty.
