I was looking at the performance chips in the zone shop. It lists two of them...mild and wild. My engine is completely standard, would putting a wild chip in make it run like a bag of nails? or should I just put in a mild one? I'm not to bothered if my engine was to blow up as a result of a chip so I would be willing to take a risk. After all it would give me an excuse to put in a 2.5 if I did blow it up :D . The only reason I'm thinking of a chip is because for Ԛ£65 it seems quite cheap to have a play about. Would be very interested to see how the car drove after being chipped too.

Thanks

A 'wild' chip is a waste of time because the engine has such a mild cam profile and a small throttle body. You can only give a standard engine so much before it starts to detonate and overfuel. Just something to tweak the fuelling and ignition timing is needed. They don't make a huge difference on a standard car anyway - but add a 325i throttle body and they get a lot more lively.

Recently got a Superchip fitted and it made the 320i much smoother and released slightly more torque.one of the best things I've ever done!
If it ain't broke..
Fix it till it is :)
