Any one idea how to withdraw the rack from under the car,i've disconnected everything but I can't see how to withdraw it.

i *think* you have to drop the subframe slightly... i remember having a battle with mine when i changed it over... but then mine's a 4 pot, your true manly 6 pot might be different. :cool:

Cheers Mark,I'm thinking your right,just can't see how it's possible otherwis.
Good old Haynes,in their helpful manner just say"withdraw from under car",thats helpful!!! :mad:

you should be able to pull it sideways enough to clear the crossmember, then withdraw from below

I've never needed to drop the subby yet but you never know, they are BMWs after all.

jesus u need to bend the lower tabs where the rack mounts...'should' come out easy...mine did!

Ant,tried and tried,but alas the bugger wasn't going to come out without undoing something,dropped the sub/f down,rack fell out,bunged the new rack in,bolted sub/f back up,oh and i needed to drop off one engine mount bolt aswell.

Karan,bugger,never thought of that one,thats my kinda mechanics too,had I noticed your post before I continued thats what I would have done,would saved LOTS of time too!

Anyway,thanks fellas,job done.........except for the slighty out of line steering wheel!
