Another thank you to Pete for the excellent technical article on sorting out the intermittent wipe problem we all seem to get at sometime in our E30 lives. Been living with mine for nearly a year would you believe but decided to get around to it this afternoon. Printed off the article first and had a good read. After giving all the bolts a good spray of WD40 it all went according to plan except when I opened up the motor the disc was encrusted in gunge and pitted with rust. It was so bad I didn't hold out much hope of getting it working again - really thought it was time for a new part from the dealers. Anyway I cleaned it up as best I could and put it back together as per the article. Exactly as Pete says, it didn't work that well to start with but after running the wipers for a while it is working perfectly. Probably down to my mechanical ability it took me about three hours in total but a great result.
