You people most probaly get this a lot but it must be said.
Thx to each and every one of you ....this is the most responsive and helpful site I have ever seen ....and I am not just talking about Car advice....

I just got one stupid question

Is there like a secret tips & tricks forum on the site ...and if not...why dont we start one?

I know of a few.....

But i am not talking about normal Ram air or performance exhausts
I am talking about those top secrets you all hiding away??

Like I found if you slightly retard the timing that my Beemer got a little more performance ....shoot me if i am wrong but that was truly my experience.

Would like to hear from all of you .....

Because like all you know We BMW drivers must stick together ..lol

Hi,

there are no real secrets. So may people have tried pretty much everything already that most things are common knowledge.

Everyone has thei own personal choise as to what they want out of their car and they then ask advice about how to best get there.

As for retarding the ignition timing - you would lose power. Are you sure you didn't advance it instead?

Can't really have it too far advanced, it's either as advanced as it can be and doing the best job it can, or it's pinking :(

How did you advance it by the way? You got a clockwork dizzy?

on the cam pulley you get the centre bolt if you losen that and take the beld of you got about 5Ԛ° play both ways .....if my memory surves me correct you then can advanced or retared it that way.....but you have to take you covers & roter off to reatch or you can replace your cam pulley with an adjustble one ?

and sorry 4 sounding stupid but wtf? is a "clockwork dizzy".....

Aah, sorry! Thought you were talking about the ignition timing!

Yes, see your point about the cam timing :)

A dizzy is a distributor, and a clockwork dizzy is one which had mechanical advance rather than electronic control :)

that is completely incorrect,

max power at a specific load and rpm does NOT come from the farthest the ignition can be advanced,
a dyno tune will show that you may be getting say 200hp with 25degs advance, and also at 20degs, now wich would you choose??
With great challenges comes great engineering.
