simon, yes i know it looks shite but im just after the engine and other bits for my conversion, not intersted in body/interior, do u think i should look elsewhere for a better and later model?

I doubt it's a 2.7... even in the description at the top it states the engine size to be 2,494 cc.

It hasn't been looked after well, so I doubt the owner has had this conversion done.

Yeah, saw the '92 one on the trader...

It's worth going to have a look. Check EVERYTHING though... V5, receipts, etc.

I hope it IS a 2.7, then you'll be laughing!

Giles.

geeman, do u think its worth buying if it is a 2.7, by the way he was talking on the phone, im sure i can drop the price to about Ԛ£1200, is it worth taking the engine out and sticking it in my cab or just look for a cheap doner 325i, im just dying to convert my car after seeing glenns m5 engine in his e30 and daves 2.5 touring!

Read the ad again. I think he is saying that the head is from a 2.7 eta block.

Apart from that, the 2.7 conversion uses the standard block with eta crank/rods.

Ive just come off the phone to the guy who is selling this bm, apparently its a 2.7 block and a 325i head, he hasnt done it and he has no recipts for the work on the engine, he says its really really fast so it might be a 2.7 even if its a auto, he wants Ԛ£250 for it aswell, wot do ya think?

oh yea, i did ask him how does he know its a 2.7, and he said its on the side of the engine? its this true? il be looking at the car tommorow morning, cheers!

lol, yea i had that in my head already geeman, there is a change of plan, ill be looking at the car tonight at 9, if i get it for Ԛ£200, ill put the engine and diff in and sell the other parts so ill have a free conversion plus some cash :D

just one question, how do i know its a 2.7??? how can i check, i will have a inspection light, will it say on the side of the engine, what should it say if its a 2.7? and also its a auto, so if it is fookin rapid, does that confirm that it is converted?? cheers guys :thumb:

look for the magic number 27E on the block, passenger side near the bottom, no 27E no 2.7 unless you can have a look @ the top timing pulley, if its a hybrid 2.7 a vernier would have to be used here.

forgetting his claims of 2.7 mill for a moment, if she drives nice, goes well, doesn't overheat etc etc the engine would appear sound, @ Ԛ£250 you can test drive it too unlike on from a breakers.
