Hello there. I'm sure this is a really dumb question, but how much should it cost to get the driveshaft flexible coupling changed on a 325i? I've been quoted Ԛ£210 (inc VAT) which seems a lot? Also does anyone have any experience of fitting a new sump/gearbox gasket? Been quoted another Ԛ£200 for that. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Don't want to have to get rid of the car.

The coupling costs about Ԛ£60 from the dealers, sump gaskets arnt dear at all. Ask them for a price if you supply the parts

She looks nice dude, not a brill picture tho!

Im in Bedminster m8, Andy325i lives in Fishponds. There are a few of us Bristol lads on here, i know of 5 but there may be more!! Where you live m8?

To do the prop coupling isnt hard, removal of the prop takes around 30mins if you have a helper!
It may be cheaper for you if you bought a 2nd hand prop, Andy may have one as he's got a breaker.
If not try jonb, also a local and im sure he'll sort you out...... winkeye

Cool! It's good to know there are some E30 heads about.

I live in Redland and work in Cotham. I just had a service at Bavarian Garage yesterday, and got the depressing news that he thought it would cost about Ԛ£600 to fix the prop and oil sump leak! Yikes.

I also want to get the rear arches done. Got any ideas where around here would be good (I've not been here long)? I got a quote from a place near Weston (Autovision) Ԛ£380 + VAT for one side maybe less for the other. Have any of you Bizzol M8's had this done in da area?

Any places you think I should be checking out for E30 stuff in general? Does anyone refurb hoods around here?

So many questions, sorry, just excited to have E30 friends in Bristol.

Cheers Tom.

My god that sounds expensive - just had a local garage change my clutch for Ԛ£130!(and offer to do the tranny and crank seals for an extra Ԛ£30 if they needed it, which they didn't) Is the flexible coupling that round black disc with 6 bolt-holes in? It's Ԛ£16 on GSFcarparts.com if you look under the "transmission" section once you've chosen your car model and make. And I don't think it's more than an hours work or so. Gut feeling is they're trying to lift your leg. Just go to any local tatty looking garage with some old cars outside it and they'll charge you a better price, and it's not really a job you can get done badly to be honest.

Don't know anything about the sump - gearbox gasket side of things though.

Cheers Firefly. I couldn't believe it either, looked at Bentley's and thought if you had a car lift this would be easy!

Thanks for the tip-off on where to get the bit - that sounds like the fella.

I'll try the garage across from work (Clifton Motors if anyone knows it? Any good? seen a lovely old 320i outside) that way I can pop over while they're doing it and see what's going on?

Many thanks again buddy.

Will, i always use eurocarparts in filton, ive found gsf to be w***ers winkeye (only my experiance)

Sump gasket is a pain really, as you need to remove certain things to be able to do it, there are several ways.

Sounds dear for a arch repair, ill pm you the number of my sprayer dude.

I've only used the GSf website once, but had great service - they even rang to check I was happy with everything I'd ordered, which I thought was good. But i've heard good things about Eurocarparts too.
