Why would oil companies not put these additives into engine oil if they actually did any good?
Answer that question and you have the answer to whether additives are worth the/any money.

I Swear by them! I have always used them in my oil (Slick 50 mainly) and I can promise you that the engine feels a whole lot better. I would never use it in a new engine but in an e30 or another older car where the engine may be slightly worn out it makes it run alot smoother and easier to rev. Consequently I have also noticed a slight fuel enconomy improvement. Keep using it mate you won't go wrong!
Oh and Mr Turbo-Brown look at Castrol Magnatec....... ( I think that contains a similar additive ;) )

If you do a bit of research, I think you'll find that the makers of Slick 50 have been / still are, being bent over by the US Government over their inflated claims for the product.I Swear by them! I have always used them in my oil (Slick 50 mainly) and I can promise you that the engine feels a whole lot better.
By all accounts, there are a lot of unhappy Yanks with shagged motors because of this liquid poo.
Can't find it just now, but it was mentioned on this site not so many moons ago.
Just my 2c worth.

The slick 50 thing is about claims that the manufactures have made about the product, this has been going on since 1996
