Have noticed that there is quite a lot of play in my steering wheel, even at high speeds it doesn't seem to firm up and so can be a bit unsetteling when doing high speeds on the motorway.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be/how to sort this out??

Cheers,

Nick

Get someone to turn the steering wheel whilst you watch the steering coupling bush. See if there's any movement in it.

Could be lots of things - need a new rack, or the rubber column coupling's knackered, could be control arm ball joints or bushes. Made a big difference when i changed the latter on mine. M3 poly bushes are nice.

Thanks!

I've got the front M3 poly bushes and have recently changed one of the ball joints so I'm guessing it might be the coupling bush. Any idea on how much of a job this is to fix and how much a new bush is?

Coupling costs next to nothing. gotta get the bolts as well and grind the old ones off. Was a real pain in the arse so make sure it's definately that that's causing the problem.

Cheers mate!

I'll do what Chris-W said at some point to check the coupling. What happens if its left for 2 long? Would the steering suddenly go or would it just get gradually lighter and lighter?
