Is it a straight swap for an early sport engine into a facelift 316i (well not straight swap as such but you know what i mean!!)

You only have to change some bits if you swap to later management yeah? What needs changing out of interest... Water pump i know is one thing.. More importantly tho, are there benefits running late model loom/ecu on the early engine?

Is early or later setup easier to convert to something like Emerald/DTA..

my brother in law is in the middle of switching his cossy over to emerald, he's found them very helpful and very resonably priced ( if this is of any use)

The main reason early sports are faster than plastic bumper cars is that they are so much lighter. If you were to add up the total weight of the (missing) front jacking points, rear inner and outer wheelarches, inner sills etc , etc an early sport must be at least 150 kg lighter !
