Following on from my post earlier this week regarding persistent brake problems, I have checked out both front brakes and found that the passenger side disc feels like it is dragging through the pads for about a quarter of every turn (before running freely again) whereby the drivers side disc can be spun without any resistence through the pads. Could this indicate a possible problem with the brake caliper carrier (causing the caliper to be sitting out of line?
I have also checked the chrome caliper sliders and these look to be in good condition but I'm guessing it has to be either these or the carrier causing the problems...
For those not up on the story, the car is running recon'd calipers, and bmw discs / pads in an effort to cure a problem with discs warping but with no success!

the problem you explain sounds like a warped disc theres no doubting that but its not. i assume the question your asking is why it keeps happening?
have a read of this before all the cat-like smart arses on the forum jump down my throat for saying that warped discs are incredibly rare

Thanks for the link - it's an interesting article.
I'm basically running out of ideas (and money!) regarding this problem.
The car had new discs and pads about 12 months ago along with new front wheel bearings a few weeks after In an effort to cure a vibration that started soon afterwards. In the end, I changed both calipers along with a replacement set of discs and pads in an effort to completely cure the problem but 3 months later, It seems to have returned.
The previous set of discs have definately been damaged in some form or another as I swapped them on to the other car I am running (both 318is's) which instantly displayed the same fault.
I have taken the caliper sliding pins out to re-apply some copper slip and check them for damage but I am not sure what to try next?
