Just refitted my inlet manifold to my 87 320i after changing the inlet gaskets, cos it was running rough and now its even worse. It revs upto 2k before nearly stalling then repeats. So what have I done or missed etc , bit of a novice so all help in laymans terms greatly appreciated.

I once had exactly the same thing and it was because I hadn't connected the electrical connecter back onto the AFM properly. Calmed down after I connected it and revved it for a few min. Just an idea - could be loads of other things.

As regards the TPS, Brianmoooore told me you should move the throttle and listen out for the click of the TPS (throttle position switch). If it's not clicking it's not working, and your ECU won't know it's meant to be idling - could explain it.
