Are all fine in my book.

To be honest you're going to struggle on here aren't you. E30s are blatantly council. Take 100 'modified' e30s and if you're lucky there will be 1 that isn't a rolling joke to other road users.

Love the Light bluey green cab on Borbet As, think those wheels suit the E30s lines down to a tee.

I'm happy to put my neck on the line. Some of my BMs; council or not, you decide?

Image
On satin black track wheels with Formula R cut slicks, usually had standard BBS and soon after pic had smoked Hella headlights. Councilness would be Satin black grille?

Image
Councilness of 18" Rondells, non standard plates and plate surrounds? Definite councilness of angel eyes. I'd have swapped them for my smoked Hellas if I had the time.

Image Work in progress - councilness of black grille and non standard plates?

I think you need to change those springs to G-max. I heard Andyboy is having a good success rate currently with changing springs 8O

There was something about those wheels, i nearly dared suggesting that they were BBS replicas :o

So jhonno to sum up, you need to put the auto m40 back on, get some 18" "real" pinas, smoke everything with satin black, the headlights perhaps satin so you can see something. Tint the windows with limo black(gloss halfords spray) Put an m3 badge on...and jobs a good un.

Go wash your mouth out :P

How about a matt black paint job.. Job'd be a goodun then!

Yep some of B&Q's finest emulsion with a rather lovely finish that can only come from a roller.

Unfortunately, the paintwork has taken a turn for the worst and needs to be resprayed after it got keyed :(

Lowered 10mm over standard, so shouldnt be classed as council :D

Original and quick, thats the plan. Although the wheels maybe changing for some 16" BBS soon winkeye

Sleepers are the way forward, its no fun blasting Mr hairdressor next to you if he knows he is about to get done.

16" wheels would look nice, still BMW/BBS too. Would also allow for some proper brakes.

Anyway, for the morning guys, get back on topic of what IS council.

flippin heck, i hope you guys are joking about some of the mods,, please say your joking and just playing along to the "im so pure" e30 enthusiast look.

there are 3 types:
good clean example... i like.
subtle, clean, well modded... i like.
OTT styling .... hmm,, some ok if done properly, most i dont...

but some gripes...

Azev A's.... RH Toplines... Look wicked... check out Stuarts (gallafants) and some of the asian boys with the toplines, some of their rides look very good.

its not about the single mod,, its about the whole package.

fun thread though, atleast i know when i get my car complete, i know whos lying when they say they like it winkeye

am i right in saying theres more "council" modders (using the definition suggested in this thread) then bog standard modders?

taking Stes list,,,, applying it to every member here,, i think you find someone has atleast 1 or 2 of that list per car,, and prob about sub 20% of members have a pure example... as said, i like a clean standard example,,, though dont be using it as a excuse for not keeping it clean,,

i like to think i have a open mind to styling,, whatever floats your boat :)

some modded motors too good to be councilled..

some people like chrome,, ehum a certain someone... and somepeople dont..

anyway,,, lol been a fun thread, reading through 4 a nd a bit pages most of the posts from the few hardcore anti countcil party. lol as i said, each to their own, yuour the one driving it!!
