Main beam problems?

Hello chaps.

My main beam on the drivers side has stopped working but the dipped beam and full beam are ok.

How do i fix this? Do i just need a new bulb that i can change myself or do i need a whole new unit for that side?

I thought main beam and full beam were the same thing

It's most likely just a bulb that you can change yourself, H1 is the size you need.

Try changing the bulb first and if it doesn't work then you should probably post again about what to do about it

I will get a bulb at dinner today and try to change it.
The Headlights units are not sealed then to give me access to the bulbs?

When i said main/full beam i meant that

The side lights work ok (one pull on the selector)
The main driving lights right one is out (two pulls on selector)
Full beam ok (two pulls and stork activated ie, flashing someone)

Does that make more sense?

The bulb is easy to change on the dipped beam unit, just turn the cap on the back of the light, take the connector off the back of the bulb, and undo the spring and pull the bulb out.

The dipped beams (outer lamps) are H1 55w, twist the black cover on the back of the lamp anti clocwise I think and flip out the spring clip.

Don't touch the glass with your fingers as it creates hot spots and reduces the bulb life dramatically. If you do touch it clean it with meths or nail polish remover.

The caps on the back of the light units take root sometimes because of corrosion. I've had to break them occasionally to get them off.
When you replace the cap, smear silicon grease on to the mating surafces to make life easier the next time.
