in keeping with my uncontested zone title (see Avatar) i would like a de-tuned 2.4 diesel with an auto box (older 3 speed please), just think of the mileage i would get
would also bet on a long 24hour race my thrifty and ecnonmical detuned 2.4 diesel would outlap a few of your twin turbo two engine set ups
!!
for example a truck can have 4 driving wheels as double axle, but two turning wheels up front that do not drive, so its a 4wd but not a 4x4 (its a 4x6)
and i have seen (in a magazine) a tuned and twin turboed 4.7 lexus jeep (4x4 and 4wd) in dubai running in excess of 1200hp, and apparently excess of 170mph
not sure how beliveable but these guys have some serious cash to throw about

4x4 means 4 wheels and 4 driving wheels, 4 wheel drive means four driving wheel but not necessarily four wheelsWhats the difference between 4x4 and 4WD?

No, you just said 4x4 running gear... if you meant e30 325ix stuff, that'll take a lot less!march109 wrote:I never said I'd be using cossie running gear did I? Just the engine!
Not without an electric supercharger.Best way for big power is a "seasoned" m40 (around 150k should do) with a k&n panel filter and dtm exhaust should make approx 421bhp at the spare wheel.
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...

Alternativly a 1.2 engine from a nova (don't forget the loom, go faster stripes, ECU, and huge spoiler)Not without an electric supercharger.Best way for big power is a "seasoned" m40 (around 150k should do) with a k&n panel filter and dtm exhaust should make approx 421bhp at the spare wheel.
OR you could put your back seat flat to reduce weight, only drive round with half a tank of fuel and keep your windows wound up !!

and i thought we had already established, you need two electric superchargers, one blowing air in, the other sucking air out the exhaust, otherwise you may blow up your engine like a balloon (POP!!!)

Have to say it's not impossible it would just cost alot. 100k +bootyman wrote:It has to be something that can be done though, so no I WANT A LAMBORGHINI ENGINE crap
There's always 1 isn't there
There are a few mini's state side that run a v12 mid mount so getting a f1 lump in an e30 would be a go.

lol.
dave, youve been on the zone shop to long.
it would be nice to have a fast e30, but i think there comes a limit to the power. talk of 600bhp turbo engines combined with the e30 chassis sounds like a 4 wheeled(rusty) coffin. i think the limit is around 300 odd bhp to be honest. thats plenty fast enough.

Please hurry up and build that!!!!!!!!!!JoeP wrote:5.6l V12 from the 850csi mid-mounted in a touring. I reckon it could be done for under 5k. I've a mate who's a genius bodyshopper/all round modder and another who designs looms at Lotus.
I'd be torn for choice - but for noise & performance:
1. 850csi 5.6 V12 (or the F1 engine at a cheeky push!) - love that engine!
2. V10 from the new M5
3. Twin hyabusa bike engines, turbo'd!!!! (maybe a bit silly though - more suited to my mini!)
Or sensibly, the 535 diesel engine - tuned obviousely!! More torque please
No idea on costs though - a lot!!!!!

that will be the most undriveable thing on the plannet. especially on our roads.
joe p
mounting an 850csi lump in the back of a touring could not be done for under 5k, well not properly anyway. besides, it will be so unblanced, all over the place.
i think an m30 with a large turbo is the best.

personally i think a tuned 2.7 is best or a e30 m3 lump, if we are talking about for uk roads... turbo if u just wanna go fast, for me driveability of NA is best, i prefered ragging my 2.7 sport around than my silvia turbo

Nissan Skyline RB26DETT engine if money was no object or I'd settle with a 540 V8 lump.

For me the Alpina B10 Bi Turbo Engine, (3.5 twin turbo) seen one of these go in an E30 M3 Shell, and it passed everything in its way. Fast does not describe it

Well i fly twice a week at least and the engine from those plane's are amazing, so i reckon one Roller jet engine engine strapped to a E30 shell will give you one animal of a car

All the weight would be behind the driver!!!
Standard bm's are pretty well balanced with the engine up front, so move that behind you and it'll prob be fooked!! Nothing to keep the front wheels on the ground!

911s seem to do alright. having just popped out to the carpark to have a look there's less room between the rear axle and front seats than I'd thought. Still if you had all that cash it'd be worth it just to see.
