I know that you posted a long time ago, but just now I read your question.gareth wrote:fitting a V12 to a E34 would be relatively straightforward? i've pulled a E32 735i apart for my M30 conversion and noticed how similar everything is to my wifes E34 525i sport and i now have an urge to try for a E34 550i sport, using a E32 750i donor...
E32 and E34 are mechanicaly near the twins. It shoud be one of the easyest swaps in BMW range. It looks that original engine mounts, rad with all hoses, near whole exhaust, complete loom and many, many more can be fitted in E34 without any mods.

This sounds interesting(although not E30!)......anyone got any info on this?Yaninnya wrote:I know that you posted a long time ago, but just now I read your question.gareth wrote:fitting a V12 to a E34 would be relatively straightforward? i've pulled a E32 735i apart for my M30 conversion and noticed how similar everything is to my wifes E34 525i sport and i now have an urge to try for a E34 550i sport, using a E32 750i donor...

This would be quite a cheap conversion here as the old 7's and 5's are dirt cheap now.
Just had a quick look at the back of TBMW. The 5 litre V12 doesnt seem to have much more grunt that the E34 V8's but I bet the exhaust note would be awesome!

to be specific it´s over 50hp at 1200rpm
and if 300nm @ 2400rpm thats 100hp ;)

To be specific it is 355 Nm at 1000 rpm, 385 Nm at 2000 rpm, 415 Nm at 3000 rpm, 448 Nm at 4000 rpm, 420 Nm at 5000 rpm and 330 Nm at 6000 rpm (red line) as is saying official BMW biuletin 11 01 87 (2080) from December '87.Gunni wrote:to be specific it´s over 50hp at 1200rpm

Jeez! What offset are they? Mine are 9" with 20mm offset running 235x40x17's but they rub like hell even after flattening the arch. The guy said he could push out the arch a bit for more clearance but what have you done to get them fitting?dips346 wrote:no mate the 2 tone was my old 2.5 turbo know my mate owns it,we just finished it the rear are 9.5x17bigpimpin wrote:Dips, Is the 2 tone tourer in your sig pic the one with the V12?

Funny you should say that!
The passenger side rear seems to sit lower by around 20-25mm and it rubs more that the drivers side?
I have M3 springs in mine which I think are uprated too but they still might be a little soft for the tourer.
Cheers.

one thing i say is,its not cheap at all to do either
the v12 very hard and to do properly you are looking at Ԛ£4000 to Ԛ£7000 to complete this a manual, auto will be more headache
the v8 is not a cheap conversion either as a manual gearbox set up is hard to find and gleen reconks the v8 is more of a job to do but if you dont mind spending the money and time to do it right you will love both engine set ups
too many people have done engine conversion and had so many issus with them as not been done right because of not having the money to complete them properly

I see you're taking influence from the German beast in you avatar
Isn't that one powered by an Alpina lump?
Fab had a red 850Csi a while back. 12 cyls and 380bhp. About right then, heh.

dips346´s Avatar is showing Roberts 350i from germany. first he had a M70 5.0 Alpina with 350 hp than a S70 5.7 CSI engine with 380 hp and at last a M73 5.4 with Super Charger and around 450 hp, i think. cos the Charger is a bit too smal for the engine.

He has a Rotrex C30 if i remember right or was it ASA?... but that "smal" thing is running out of steam in the upper rpm level. A Rotrex C38 should fit a V12 and could produce up to 600 hp. and it is a cheap one

I have to say i read this thread with a lot of interest! - Your a complete genius glenn.
If i may, i do have a couple of questions regarding this project, as i am looking at doing the same myself.
1) I saw your posts regarding the engine mounts, and also the pictures of the engine mounts with the engine in place. Did you fabricate these yourself? Or did you find that using existing mounts from another car in the range gave you the correct fitment required?
2) Is the mounting pretty much the same as with the autobox? Or is the manual box from the 850ci very different? The reason I'm asking is I'll intend to use the autobox, rather than use the manual in the same way you have done. Also, I'm not sure i read about how you finalised the rear driveline set up. What did you do in the end, if you dont mind me asking.
3) In terms of wiring, did all of those hundred odd wires need to be wired in? Would it be easily achieveable using wiring diagrams for both the cars in question and just wiring the engine loom to the E30's car loom.
Hope that you dont mind me asking these questions. Thanks in advance.
