Pretty fucking quick! Its got an E36 motor though, surely you can turbo an M42 as well?

Keep reading that you can't turbo / supercharge the M42 much because of the lack of knock sensors on the engine... where as the M44 has the knock sensors.SwirlyE30 wrote:Pretty fudge quick! Its got an E36 motor though, surely you can turbo an M42 as well?

but the M44 looses the sodium filled valves, no win or win win ?
knock sensors are not the be all and end all of a turbo conversion, you can control the knock with cool, dense intake charge , bottom line is, if she knocks then its too hot, too much boost or somethings on its way out internally.
from what I have learned in the last 18 months with regard to bolt on turbo upgrades, prep is the key, as is good control of the fuelling, thats the secret.
sh1t, I've become a turbo bore. sorry guys
anyway, someone do it to a 4 pot,

Yeh i wouldnt mind putting an IS engine in my motor, might be too much hassel though! Either way when i get an is i dont want it standard, would be nice to get something done to it. Turbo sounds expensive, and hard though lol, or at least to someone without much knowledge and cash
