better to be middle aged men with middle aged cars fitted with middle aged engines.my first engine conversion was on a toyota celica,i was going to fit the skyline twin turbo engine but couldnt get a single quote for insurance.didnt have any such problems with the cosworth.i have no idea why

im sure neil meant it in a light hearted way and having owned a toyota id agree with him.the cars of old tended to be a bit flimsy and prone to rusting very quickly,although it was very reliable running wise

I wasnt really angry at it. Thanks for apologizing. Im not that easily offended, just didnt know if you were serious about it. Its hard to tell tone via text.
I would agree if he wanted to throw some civic engine in there but an RB20DE(T/TT) is a really really good engine and I think it would be balanced in an E30 seeing as its also a 6cyl. Ive seen SR20s put in an E30 but I think that throws off the weight ratio. As far as rust goes, ive seen some really bad E30s too

better off looking for either a 2.5TT engine from a Soarer (1jz) or the 2jz 3.0 TT lump out of a supra, much more relaible and easier to get more power from and remain more reliable.
manual boxes on the toyotas are rare though.
