first of all, top-mounts...

one on the right failed in the Ukraine- I did 3500 miles on it with a sock jammed between the disk at the top of the damper and the metal that was left on the top-mount... Left hand one is the e46 330i cab replacement.

sometimes i wish bmw's just had steel sumps like everyone else! that would have just dented and maybe leaked a bit from the sump gasket. allowing you to get it changed at your leisure rather than dumping a gallon of oil on your drive!

if you make a goof enough job of cracking the sump you dont get any oil anywhere near your drive.. nevermind staying in the engine!!

not a good week for sumps
