I've noticed a groan from the front end at low speeds and this only happens occasionaly. I think it may be steering related? (I have power steering by the way) I don't get the noise when I turn the steering lock to lock just at low speeds and very briefly.

Could this just be the fluid needing replacement? Or does it sound more serious? If the first how do I go about changing the fluid?

Cheers :)

I thought a groan from the front end meant you were doing something right?? winkeye

On a serious note, its very common on e30's, if the fluid is low top it up and see if there is an improvement. But its probably because at low speeds the pump is complaining that there isnt enough power to drive it.

If there is not enough power to drive it is there something that can be done? Does this mean the pump is worn?

When it 'groans' can you feel a slight resistance or vibration through the steering wheel?
