Hey guys! Great to see the site is back up :)

I need some advise with my e30 320i. I was thinking of putting an e28 M535i engine init but this has turned out to be a little too expensive so I want to trick out what I have untill I can afford a 24v 3.0l engine.

a set of cams, 325i throttlebody and inlet and a chip should cost me roughly Ԛ£450ish + labour at roughly DIY prices (give my mate Ԛ£100 to help me do it)

Is it worth me doing or can I do something else to get a better driving experience out of the car?

(PS> : Oh and ian please pm me mate I cant find your ID on the site)

Anyone ever think that maybe the insurance on a 325i may be too much for this dude?

_Slyder_, to answer your actual question, try fitting

325i intake manifold
325i throttle body
Zone chip into the ecu (if the car is POST 1988) total cost should be about Ԛ£130 or there abouts...

as for the Cam-you'll only need one

well insurance isnt really a problem, but the labour cost is what worried me. how many hours would it take to put the 325 lump in?

that would depend on who's doing the job and how capable they are and if they have all the equipment needed.
i would say someone used to getting there hands dirt and having a good full tool kit and block and tackle, trolley jack, axel stands etc should take a weeked for the engine in and running.

it would be adviserble to have a friend to help.
and dont rush in undoing every thing.
think about it first and remember where every thing goes.

ive done lots of engine changes on other makes of car but never had to fit a bmw engine.

ive removed a couple.

good luck and let us no how you get on

Hmmm If im gonna do all that I might as wl scrap the 3.0 idea and build a 2.7. But what else does a 325 engine need to go in?
