My touring is due for its MOT in about a month and a half and now is about the time I would think to have it MOT'd. If it fails I still have 6 odd weeks to get it sorted (on the old MOT)

With the new computerised system is this still possible or does the new MOT cancel out the old one?

I've asked the question in the past - I had thought it might cancel it out as well, but apparently not, the old ticket stands.

Now that's a surprise! I would have thought anythin which could be seen as slightly bending the rules would have been outlawed and fined heavily.

Yay :)

Before you get too excited - anything classed as dangerous and the old ticket is void!

I was surprised at the response as well.

Just get your garage to do a pre-MOT check, they know what to check and if something is found its not logged on the computer

I've never really been a strong beliver in pre MOT checks, I've always thought (and correct me if I'm wrong) they cost pretty much the same amount as an MOT and there is no way you're gonna get an MOT certificate at the end of it, just a 'yeah theat should pass'

That said it's nice that these thing's don't get logged on the computer if you do have serious problems I guess.

Then there's the question mark over whether you'd actually want to drive a car that had a serious problem?! 8O

a basi MOT check should only take a half hour or so? Ԛ£15 at my local garage. doesnt include the brake test on the rollers or the emissions check but checks the dangerous/expensive thinkgs you'll have to save up for.

but if it fails an MOT then is aint safe to be on the road i'm afraid
