I got some new tyres the other day and to celebrate the loss of brain numbing vibrations, I tried a little top speed run to see if the engine was still making anywhere near std power (on a private road you understand).

Built up a bit of speed and bang.... the black trim strip around the top of the doors flew off!

Bloody car.

Know of 3 people who have had the same problem.

One person has used black tape to attach them to the car.

May i suggest using some bostik glue, or nip the leading edge together a little.

This happened to me once on one of my 325i's and I was doing less than 60mph. Bit of JB Weld sorted that out.

Lost my drivers side strip doing 90+, really didn't know what had gone till I stopped! By the time I got back it was flattened and pretty much buried into the road, plus I aint going to play chicken in the fast last on the A14!

Still got the one I borrowed from the 318i I used to have although it never fitted quite right.

Glad I aint the only one tho!

Mark.

Lost mine too (and also on an is???) - the front edge flew off and was only hanging on by the very last piece. Sorted it by crimping the front section a little bit before sticking it back on. 7 years later and it's still there so my fix must have worked. :D
