just looking through all my reciepts for wot ive spent on my car in the last 12 months of owning it (its aslo my 1st 12 months of owning a bmw) (and may be my last lol)
and after adding it all up was quite suprised at how much it came to, considering i do 90% of the work my self and only Ԛ£300 of this total is for labour ?? and none of it is for mods cos i aint got none only a stainless exhaust, and i dont class that as a mod really cos the car needs it if ya get wot i mean.
i was even more shocked because this car has been really well maintained throughout its life by its previous owners, who obviously drove it a lot more carefully than i do.

so wot is your total for maintainance?, cos i think ive spent alot @ Ԛ£2161.79 ........ with more to come with suspension, and roll bars!!!

bear in mind most of these parts are genuine bmw !, but wot would you use genuine or aftermarket ??

i guess the costs of maintanence and mod's etc can soon add up over the course of a year so yeah i can find this quite believable mate.....

Just think what you could be spending in depreciation......always a sobering thought.

E30's are certainly some of the best value you can find for enjoyment/performance:cost!!!

I think what ever you own, if you add up all the bills it gonna be a fair bit.
e30s are fairly cheep to run though, part and that.

Its when you start modding it a bit as well the Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£start mounting up a fair bit.

Still cheaper to mod that the newer bms though

mate i'd be gutted if i had spent that much. i use my old shiter for trackdays and to go to work in if i don't fancy the van. one set of tyre's 3 oil changes a full service and a full set of brake pads and several manifold gaskets until i spotted it was bent and machined it flat again. other than that nothing no breakdowns it use's no oil or water
trouble free with buying it tax mot plus all the above it stands my well under a grand including the lsd

Iv spent around 2k in parts this year (labour is free)

As far as the 45k argument goes, he has got an M3 that is better than the day it rolled out of the factory. Worth the money IMO. Dont forget its a toy, not a daily driver!

My 325 has consumed about Ԛ£800 in parts and labour (not mine) over 2 years....But that includes replacing bits that were purely cosmetic such as the lip spoiler and it also includes full oil change and use after of Silkolene fully synthetics throughout (engine, box and diff) and denso iridium plugs...

My M3, though, has cost very little...the only non-upgrade parts fitted as replacements have been a water pump, temp sender and a replacement 6-btn OBC. Spent a bit more on "improvements"...replacement Hella smiley-type headlights, Faulkner springs and AVO dampers all round and am just about to change front control arm, rear subframe and rear trailing arm bushes for poly versions and all flexible brakelines for braided and the brake fluid for ATE Racing Blue.
Suppose, all in, spent about Ԛ£1500

Mind you, only covered about 8000 miles in the last 18mths as compared with 25K miles in the 325.

Check out my Pistonheads profile (click BLOG for full breakdown)

To date including buying the car for Ԛ£900 I have spent about Ԛ£8000 on my 2.7 in 28 months

I do all my own spannerwork so that's parts only and not including petrol or insurance

Cheers,

My 335i just needs a radiator to get it fully working and I have spent Ԛ£4765 (to the nearest pound) on parts!
And I haven't started on the bodywork properly yet!
That includes donor 535i (Ebay), engine rebuild with Schrick camshaft and modified head, Recaro recliners (Ebay - not yet fitted), roll cage (Ebay), 17" wheels (Ebay - not yet fitted), lsd (Ebay), M535i flywheel (Ebay), buying (Ebay) and modifying an E30 325i, many new parts including horrid cheap suspension kit (Ebay - I regret that one), clutch, battery and other smaller stuff and oils etc. and selling unwanted parts. Done all spanner work myself too, doesn't include tax, insurance, m.o.t. or fuel as it's not even on the road yet.

So far ended up with this! 8O

Image

It will have cost more to get on the road as my beautiful Mazda RX7 twin turbo which is on Ebay now to pay for it! What have I done!!!

I hope it will be worth it!

Mint condition 320i = $4,000 AU

Manual conversion = $1,300 AU (parts)

325i throttle body = $200 AU

325is Springs = $150 AU

Cold air intake with Pod filter = $50 AU

Gaining 3 car lengths on a manual e34 535i by 150kmh .... Priceless

i have spent more but on stupid things like towing reg petrol tyres so on and so on....
