Hi,

I have just bought a LHD 320i 1987 (shed), and because of poor running I have just removed the inlet manifold and TB to replace the gaskets, before I ATTEMPT to refit them has anyone got any advise on refitting and is there anything else I should do whilst they are off.

Many thanks

I would also replace the o-rings on the tube that runs down the side of the block from the underside of the fanimold (the one with the big springs on the outside).

It's part of the crank case breather system. Any leaks on the o-rings will upset the fuel mixture and give a lumpy idle.

No power when driven , revs up on its own, sounds crackin apart from when its under load ie: driven, love BM E30's but this ones a git. Cr&p colour too(Burgandy) You get what you pay for Ԛ£275 erm good tyres though. Whats a LCV by the way.

I'm guessing you mean ICV, in which case it's the Idle Control Valve.

Well, nearly I finised the inlet manifold refit when I noticed the one of the hoses to the thermostat housing had come of, soon found out why when I saw the connection was inside the hose, so new housing required. Gibraltar has no dealers and I have no transport into Spain, so who is the best and quickest mail order company out there.

I'm not aware of any mail order places that would deal with that part (assuming you mean the small square cover with a pair of small hose connections coming from it - held on with 4 small screws).

If you're really stuck, I could get one from my dealer and post it out to you. My parts catalogue indicates the cover and its gasket would cost approx Ԛ£6.15. I doubt they would have it in stock, but they can usually get things in a day or two.

Cheers,

Ian.

Try here https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/

Look under cooling system, it's listed at the bottom of the page.

B17901 THERMOSTAT HOUSING E30 320i M20 09/82>06/91 Ԛ£23.70

They ship worldwide as well.

Cheers,

Ooops, my bad. When I read it first, I thought he meant the bit on the side of the throttle body, but it's the thrmostat housing itself. In that case then GSF will be the best bet
