think the profile of the tyre may be a tiny bit too much fella, but not 100% on that
i had 17" alpina reps when I had the 325, never ever had any rubbing probs with 205/40/17 tyres. Edit: this was with a 60/40 drop
You need to check the offset is correct for e30 too as that may put the tyre near the lip on the arch

offset for any 7inch rim would be the same as your 15" 7J BBS - around 25 (if I've got my head around offset at last
)
205/45/17 gives the 'correct' rolling diameter, not 40 profile, but once you lower the car...... who knows? I'm sure someone who's done it can tell you.
I'm only going to mention this once... lowering and fitting 17s will ruin your E30s handling. Do a search if you don't believe me.

The offset can vary with the diameter as the bits a 7J15 wheel would hit with say an ET30 offset are out of the way on a 7J17 wheel.

what 'bits' are these?
if the tyre rubs on the inner arch or outer arch due to being the wrong offset, then that'll happen if the wheel/tyre is 205/55/15 or 205/45/17

I'm referring to things like the struts at the front which slope away from the wheel as it gets bigger meaning you can run more of an offset(moving the wheel away from the bodywork) given a larger rim size (ooh err)

I'd run with 40 profiles on 17"s

Actually thinking about it
what about Scott players car?? he's got 19" mothers on there! Was speaking to him at Gaydon and he said that he had no issues whatsoever with the size..

mines fine too no problems and comfort aint to bad either considering my car has been lowerd 60mm i would stick with a 40 profile, with mine being so low i had to have the arches rolled thoPal318is wrote:Second That..ian332isport wrote:Bit of a sweeping statementorangecurry wrote:I'm only going to mention this once... lowering and fitting 17s will ruin your E30s handling.
