P21-S and my valeting process...

Hello chaps

I've just bought P21-S paintwork cleanser and carnauba wax. The cleanser is said to remove swirl marks, water spots, pollution residues, microscopic dirt and film. It then goes on to say paint will have that "glassy" feel.

I'm picking up my new purchase on Saturday and I was going to get stuck in during the afternoon. After reading the description, the cleanser seems to take the role of the clay bar, unsure, I was going to clay it anyway.

Is this process right?

1. Wash with fairly liquid to remove previous wax.
2. Clay the body
3. Poor boys SSR2 using a mop
4. P21-S Paintwork cleanser
5. Autoglym Super Resin
6. Two coats of P21-S Carnauba Wax

Also, what do users of P21-S products think of the wax and cleanser?

you process sounds about right

p21 products get a good write up and are supposed to be good value for money.

as for the autoglym hten there are better products

i would go for something from someone like meguiars, zaino, sonus etc bbut that is personal choice

i take it the poor boys ssr2 is a cutting compund to remove swirls/marks etc???, if so then its sounds like your method is pretty well sorted, what type of cloths are you using for wash/dry/polish application and removal etc?

thanks for the comments. I have also got a trade bottle of Farecla polish that I could use to replace the Autoglym, I rate it highly.

Yeah you're right, this is the description for the Poorboy's: SSR2 - Medium Abrasive
Removes: Light Swirls, Oxidation, Fine Scratches and Over-Spray. Use on: Clearcoats, Paint, Chrome, Gel Coats, Glass, and Plexiglass.

I've got a pile of Microfibre cloths that have been bought from various places, ebay and halfords mainly. They have been through the washing machine loads of times now, I also use liquid and not powder because I was told remaining powder can scratch paint. Buy I think standard terry cloth (the beige stuff) is spot on for buffing, followed by the meguiar's duster. Maybe I need better quality MF cloths, but in comparison, I don't think they are that effective for buffing!

depends on how anal you wish to be about the whole thing and how much you want to spend at the end of the day

Farecla products are supposed to be good, and lets face it, they can't be that much worse than autoglym, how hard is it to get off

decent quality microfibre is the way to go if you don't want to reintorduce swirls, but if your happy enough to have some and keep on top of them by cutting back every year then they probably aren't essential (so long as what your using to cut back isn't too strong where its gonna cut through to the the primer) although, it depends on what you want, higher quality ones make beuufing a piece of pish

the most important thing with microfibre is no fabric softner....at all, only use soap powder/liquid, preferabely without built in softner

oh, also with the carnuabra wax, make sure you top it up regularly, it will degrade and be almost non enxistant in a few weeks time, so keep on top of it to keep up that shine and extra protection

do clay the car

wash it again after this and before mopping

what mop are u using and have you used one before??

ditch the autoglym

no need.you are asking autoglym to work on top of p21s product and then p21s to work on top of autoglym

you wont get best out of any

clean paint with the p21s cleaner then p21s wax on top

gives very good results for a wax

but as chris has said it diminishes quickly so keep topped up.tho imho p21s is better than any zymol wax.

iam not a wax fan but it does give good results just not very durable

use Only microfibre to apply and remove

anything else will leave marks and p21s comes off very easy

the better finish u get the more marks that will show up and using crappy cloth to remove will introduce swirls

It is a Silverline variable speed polisher, looks like a grinder. Will this do more harm than good? I've used air mops before, I've never burnt paint but on the other hnd,I've never had a pro show me a correct method. I've got three different grades of sponge plus a buffing pad.
