sounds like its misfireing, check the rotor arm and cap first. If thay are ok then leads and plugs are next in the chain

wouldn't have thought pinking either, not from cold anyway unless the ECU is daffy. check your fuelpump connection too underneath the back driverside seat, these are common failure points leading to bad running as well

Air intake boot for splits, distributor cap/rotor arm (not leads - they last for ever), DME and/or fuel pump relays or dying fuel pump, in that order.

Obvious solution is to put the standard air box back and feed your engine properly filtered air, bur the split in your intake boot is nothing to do with the cone filter - it's just normal deteriation of a rubber part with age.
Very common.
New one is around 11 pounds, depending on the exact spec. Give the dealer the last seven digits of your VIN.

it is cos of the cone its not fixed in place so as im driving the weight if it and the air mass meter housing is causing it to move up and down hance the rip so i think i will put the standared one back opn for the time being untill i get a proper fixing bracket to hold it all in place the same as the standard one is. so you say i can get one from main dealers brianmooore cheers mate

I got one from the dealers for not much. About 14 quid or so, well worth it over a breaker part for the peace of mind imo.
