HI folks I a Newbie too this here forum, a big hello to everyone with good taste in cars. :D

I have been meaning to sign up for ages but not had the time to do so, I think this is a fanstatic site with penlty on knowlegable members in the know. 8)

OK I am currently a proud owner of an Original 1987 Larchs Silver ///M325i Sport, which is my current project for resoration. As you all know with any car of the age it does have some pit falls, but you will not be able to help yourself try to perfect everything once you have started. These are great cars to run and modify and still turn heads when you're driving it ( The un-missable note of the 6 POT)

The car I have is a 4 owner vehicle with 146K on the clock.
Its on original Sport version with cloth recaro trim with factory rear head rest and arm rests and full electic pack (no OBC).

This is also the light weight version as it has non power steering.
Still has the original and un-used Steel spare wheel with Goodyear NCT 65 tyre (Unused)

The last ower did spend a fare amount of money at it with an original BMW full exsurst system with stick still attached and original BMW brakes which are about 2000 miles old.

But the body work had gone to pot. as you can well immagine the rear was rooten so some welling was needed.

but here is a run down of the jobs which I have undertaken myself

The start of the restoration:

1 Complete strip down of the car (including TECH 1 kit and glass)
2 Cut and repair rooten sections under two rear wheel arches.
3 cut and repair rear boot trays, joining rear inner arches.
4 remove sunroof panel and treat rust.
5 Repair rust creeping in at top edge of the sills (Where the botton the the front door meet the rear panel)
6 Repair hole by the front passenger side.
7 complete rub down of body work and removing any inperfections that have appeared over the years parking dings shopping trolly dings.
8 recondition wiper motor
9 recondition heat blower (non reister version)
10 repair Central looking system (2x red and black wires had corridid from were the driver door loom meets the main harness.
11 replaced Ni-cad batteries on the SI board.
12 re-set tappets 0.25
13 replace rear bumper and skirt (MTEC 1)
14 repaint cam cover in black and "DA" the BMW sign an polish)

As you all now most of the horrors lerk behind the body kit.the top of the scuttle panel is like new still, suppisingly no rust what so ever.

I am looking at painting the car over the weekend, as I'm gonna use the rest of the week to wax oil the entire car.

I am looking at painting it with the original Larchs silver with 4 coat of laquer so that I can cut back one coat with 1200 & 1500 wet sand paper to give it that bright shine.

Additional things to do once finished:

1 repaint 15" BBS rims with brite silver edges with Negaro gray centers.
2 I.C.E install, Pioneer KEH-M800 Componet head unit, Pioneer CDX-M50, Pioneer GM 41a to power JBl front componets set. 2x Pioneer GM2200 amps one for rear shelf 8" pioneers and one to drive 12" Subs unit and the most important to balance it all off a Pioneer EQ-6000. (Keeping it Old Skool)

For those of you that know about Stereo's all of this was original BMW optional extra's apart from the JBL speakers.

3 Original BMW sunroof Wind defector.

4 To top it off a good valet and service

I will keep you all posted as to the progress and I will take some pictures and post them soon.

If its "NOT" German, Forget it...

It was ok, it has been better in the past. about 150 car I would say.
A few e30 the M's and Alpina's but nothing really stricking.

And the weather was not great towards the afternoon, started to rain.

By the way Steve i kinda specialize in the E36 cars and have a few bits still left in the garage as most on them I tend to sell on ebay. if your ever in need on a part give us a shout.

Hi Jay-T

Welcome to the Zone :thumb:

I have a 325i Auto Cab but I also have recently acquired a 1987 325i Sport in Lachs Silver Metallic. It needs some TLC but I will happen over time.

I know Bramhall very well. Indeed, I am in Stockport almost every two months as I have family there and one of my best friends lives in Grange Road. It would be good to see your car when I am next up there.

Get some pics up when you can.

Yep the older car are the best for me too. The Tech 2 are very nice but starting to get hard to find. Its what I wanted first but settle foe a tech 1.

I have the Jetta in the garage also, it hasnt been on the road for around 5 years, hopfully will get that running soon as well.

but yes get a good tech 2 with leather if you can, with the rear factory screen blind.

Nice 1

Was good to chat at benhams yesterday, we'll have to meet up again so I can see your sport. Could take you for a spin in my 2.7 if you're up for it.

Cheers,
