You will have to drop out the rear diff cradle also check the bushes while its out..
The easest way to check your diff.. An LSD spins both wheels an open will just spin the one..

Get a nice quiet bit of road, dial up a few revs, dump the clutch and wheel spin it for what its worth. Then go back and see, if theres one line it means open diff, if theres two lines of rubber then it means lsd!

The two line technique won't always work, because you may have decent balance and enough power to spin both anyway.
There should be a big S on the diff, and also where the flat 'plate' bit where the ratio is, it should have an S infront of the ratio. e.g. S 3 91
A good way is donuts, you can't donut without one on tarmac in the dry!
Or jack the whole of the back of the car off the ground, and rotate one wheel, if the other rotates the same way, it's an LSD....Is that correct people?!

It may be boring, but with a trolley jack and five minutes spare, you'll know the answer
Plus if there's nowhere to do donuts, it can be dodgy, obviously didn't stop me, but that's not the point!

Commendable safety precautions Dave.
But, if you need to jack your car up to find out whether it's got an LSD or not, you don't need one.
you shouldn't need to go back and look tho'.

As Dave said with a slipper both wheels spin in the same direction as both wheels have equal power most of the time. Open diff jacked up wheels will spin in the opposite direction.
OR
jack up one side on the rear, open diff wheel will spin, LSD the wheel won't move
