I am going to try to locate black trim, but can I paint it instead. If so, is there a common procedure. I have an 87 325is and I want to dechrome it. thanks

get some UV stable semi gloss vinyl and do it with that dude, do it right and it will look factory for years to come.

You can paintthe trim, but the chrome needs a good keying and some etch primer for the finish to stay on.

The vinyl is the same stuff that i use to make vehicle graphics out of, its a very thin sheet and is very easy to mold tol the shape of the trim, if it needs to be shrunk into corner sections it can be done with mild heat.

I saw the parts Ant had done last night and they look spot on.

Do you have to remove the trim from the car to get this plastic sheet around it?

im in the process of doing this ive rubbed back all the chrome with wet/dry paper im going to spray with primer then mat black paint. hope it goes well. unfortunatly the process has taken a number of weeks because whenever i go to spray it its either too windy or raining ... :(
