Ive got a E30 convertable and ive been thinking of doing the engine swap for a while then after smashing a big hole in the sump (jumps in a lowerd e30 dont seem to go well)ive decided to do the swap ...ive been thinkin of just doing the normal e36 325 engine swap but i was just wondering...
Do ppl often swap for Turbo engines out of other cars(jap 2.0 turbo stuff )and is there any known swap to be done that will fit in ok
ive has a look on here and cant see any thing sry if ive missed loads lol
Tnx in advance for any help Carl

The most common swaps are the M50B25 from a E36 325i, or a YB for the turbo route. there are 2-3 YB powered cars on here.....

well ive decided the yb route is too dear so im goin for a bmw motor im thinking of a 335 over the m50 (seen loads of these
on here so sure i could get help if stuck)
BUT is it much harder to fit the 740 motor as they are 286 bhp which is more then the 211 of the 3.5.
im thinking of just buying a bmw 735 and just striping it for the motor etc but which gear box do ppl use with them
as the 7 series seem to be mostly autos which is a no no lol

the easiest route is to use a manual E34 535i as the donor. should be easier to sell on some bits too.sunnysr wrote:well ive decided the yb route is too dear so im goin for a bmw motor im thinking of a 335 over the m50 (seen loads of these

i used a auto E32 735i as the donor and got a E30 M3 prop, E30 M3 exhaust, E32 530i gearbox and a E28 535i clutch and (lighter) single mass flywheel.
