i think ya may struggle to find one for sale in the uk mate

but ya never knowi could be wrong on sth africa as i seem to remember someone in holland used to rob the cranks out of em for the 2.7 conversion as its same crank alpinas used iirc

so maybe a trip to france/holland etc may be the easiest way to source 1

although someone on here must have one

i would love to drop a 330d engine in an e30 but it may be a while before that happens if ever

Just got back from a trip to france and spain and saw quite a few diesel e30s and and e34s, i.e. 324 td and 524td. Wanted to find out about them myself but my french is no where near good enough to try that! Anyone done a conversion to a uk car?! winkeye

Hi

Europe had 324d E30s and have seen some RHD in the UK

A mate of mine who specialises in breaking and selling E30 cab parts has a genuine 324d convertible

So yes they do exist but hard to find as people dont want to sell and not that many in the UK

I saw a 324d in france once, Not that, thats any use to you. I was on the german ebay last night and saw one on there, Couldnt understand a bloody word of any descriptions, I was just lookin for what the quality of the e30's was like over there, and to see if i could find a 320is.

Hi

A 324d convertible is sitting in a garage in Birmingham awaiting restoration...believe me..and it is real...but as a practical car the touring is your best bet..but when the engine breaks let me have the bottom end for £50

I THINK it was the con rods you nick from em too, they are forged rather than cast and they are happy upto 9K rpm, standard 325's only good upto 7K or something like that!!

but no doubt if i am wrong someone will let us know!!

Been done already...dont worry about you will see it at a BMW show in the next year or so

No problems...defo not a DIY job...it was acquired from Germany over 10 years ago..it is unusual so understand that you dont know about it...but some people dont know how many Motorsports, Design or M3 convertibles were made but some people dont know or dont care...so dont stress its not important

The cab was only available with the 1.8, 2.0, 2.5 and S14 Petrol engines.......i'd defo say a DIY job.....

Diesel was only in the 4Dr saloon and Touring (Estate).

As stated it is in a garage in Birmingham..owned by one of the biggest E30 breakers in the country who specialises in convertibles...understand what you say about type approval etc...but also know what I have seen and it is no botch...its not my car to be asking for vins and posting on a website...sure you can check it for yourself at a show in the future...he knows his stuff as has a genuine Alpina cab, M3 cab, Design cab and recently had a rare Hartge...wait and see...and then you can make your comments to his face

How do you know it's not a transplant? Surely if you put an E30 engine in an E30 engine bay it is going to look factory isn't it?
