yep! the local radio has been urging drivers to fill up before a journey as idiots keep running out of fuel on the motorway.mrLEE30 wrote:...while the police just drove past and looked (waste of space!!)#

could be right about that, it is normally only enforced on motorways but i thought it was on all public roads, even remember somewhere i read its illegal to drive onto a motorway with less then 25miles worth of fuel in your car, (as thats the maximum distance between serivces) but cannot see thet being enforced
and did your light come on? hate running out of fuel, went on a surf trip in the mini at college and ran out of fuel in a massive dip in a road (Actually two huge hills) on a back road round Bude, no one came for hours and he was on a tractor, the things we have to do to get a tow round them parts

I'm sure i can think of a few motorways with bigger gaps than 25miles between services...mrLEE30 wrote: drive onto a motorway with less then 25miles worth of fuel in your car, (as thats the maximum distance between serivces)

i think it was quite an old law back in the day when the motorways were first being built in ernest, the specs were max 25 miles between services, no doubt these days it has changed hence why the law i read about (if it was indeed true when i read it!!) is no longer known or enforced.I'm sure i can think of a few motorways with bigger gaps than 25miles between services...
I would doubt anyone could ever be prosecuted for it anyway (assuming it is/was a real law) as some motorways these days are town/city bypass roads with drivers only goning a mile or two down them to the next junction.

I have no faith in mine either, the reserve light seems to behave itself but the gauge is nutty as a squirel.. I managed to run the battery flat the other day and it seems to have improved the fuel gauge levels lol.. <boggle>
