Hey buddy, there are slight differences with the cat and non-cat versions, its about 127hp and 170NM's. As for the fuel consumption it can be summed up in a word "shit", i'm kidding. I'm not sure on the actual figure but it LARGELY depends on how you drive. HTH

Hi

I agree with the consumption, my OBC says about 25-26 on the run to work

Thats good, motorway is good but town driving is crap. Keep mine for the open road, hardly any town driving.

service it well and the 129bhp (when it was new!) m20b20 will easily give about 32-35 on a run and 25+ round town.

Its all to do with watching the econeometer

mine does 22mpg when hammered

as for OBC's they usually under-read, better to work MPG from fuel light.

so get light on, fill it up and keep the reciept.

once light comes on again, get the mileage aand the reciept.

take number of litres bought, and devide by 4.54 to give gallons, then devide mileage by that.

It should be called a "you gonna have to put more juice in amometer"

It does make my right foot lighter on motorway drives, have found mine to be a bit lighter at 80mph winkeye

even a small movement can make 10mpg difference.

I can get 27.7 outta my dad's 535i m30 auto on a and b roads, just by being careful

When I bought my 320i it returned 23mpg.After some engine work I now get 35.The 316i gives anything from 20mpg when used just around the city to 37/38mpg on a fairish trip(I used it yesterday,Lincoln/Manchester/Stafford/Lincoln and returned 37.78)but its not as much fun to drive!!

mine does 25mpg, i like to accelerate really harsh up to 60 every so often...i think doing this reduces the mpg by around 3-4 mpg...but i love it...

i had a bmw 316i e36, it had a big (heavy) ice install...as the car was so power-less i had to floor it everywhere...it returned an average of 18-20 mpg!!!!

so, my 320i is really good on fuel (bet thats the first time anyone has said that)
