whats the opinion on them? i want to get my touring done and while im up to date with the law im desperate not to have that dark rear passenger window/lighter front windows issue.. lets face it, it shows a mile away and looks pants..
i think id rather have the same percentage of tint all round and limo black on the back window.. was thinking go slightly darker than legal all round as a good comprimise and hope me policeman dont bother me? i dont drive round like a c**t so dont make myself stand out.... anyway the tinting, is this me being tacky or will it work? got any tinted pics?
*EDIT* forgot to say the car is the 'orrible dark green think its called boston

Not really a fan of tints, but thats just my personal opinion on my car. I think a nice subtle tint can look quite nice especially on a dark tourer.

this is something i have been pondering for ages now
i say do em but try keep it near legal as it aint worth the grief of
having to remove them at the roadside
does anyone know exactly what the laws are on tints now??
as everyday i see loads of new cars fully tinted

Erm... depends where you are as to how tight the coppers are but I think bare legal minimum is 70% light passing through the windows, that means only a 30% tint which in real terms isn't that much. As its actually not a linear corelation between light passing through and how dark the tint appears to our eyes.

dark tints are nasty but those coloured tints are worse!
Have you seen those Blue and Red window tints they are so bloody nasty, when I see a car like that I just want to put every window in there and then.

heres 2 photos of my old ones to give you a idea,
dark at the rear and light at the front it makes a diffrabce also on the interior colour as well, if lighter interior then the tints wont seen so dark

I have been thinking of getting tints as well, nothing serious just a light grey/smoke
I dont like the limo tint in the rear and normal in the front, its not like your escorting B list celebrities is it.
But its up to you and what you like, I do like the added security that tints add ie resistance to breakins. A good quality film shound resist a hammer blow and added safety in an accident ie less flying glass .
I have owned a car with limo tints on all windows and it a nightmare at night, you can only see headlights

ok I will agree that looks nice, nasty in a good kinda way - if you know what I mean?
But now imagine those fcukin horrible red/sunrise tints on the red e30 behind it, and you'll see what I mean about nast nasty nasty (almost justifiable window smashing) tintage!!!

loads of feedback thanks guys. im going to go "barely legal" all round... just to add that some police forces carry equipment to check tints. surrey will actually call vosa and they make you wait for them to arrive and some will let you go if they can see through the tint. its a little grey still and hopefully the campaign on tints is kind of over for a while now so easier to get away with (bit like the seatbelts campaigns and mobile phone campaigns)

just had my wifes dodge professionally tinted to 40% which is the legal limit here, and trust me it is almost not noticeable from out side, by that i mean not even half as dark as dips346's white touring's door windows.
Oh yeah a professional job costs a fortune, but a DIY job looks tacky if you cannot get all the bubbles out, but gotta admit on a black/dark car. black tints look the dogs danglies.

ill be getting a middle of the road sort of tint, dont want too dark as ive got a white car.they said it was now illegal to get the front drivers and passengers doors tinted now but would do it if 'i didnt get it done here
'if you get all around done it seems darker anyway.i had limo black all around on my celica several years ago and it was a nightmare.you couldnt see anything coming at dusk if cars didnt have their lights on,and cyclists were invisible :roll:i was qouted £260 to do my touring.
