The mother took the car today and somehow managed to lock the only key in the car in the ignition, breaking glass is last resort and ideas greatly welcomed.

I think that should be a PM responce only!!

Not that familiar with E30's myelf though. I tend to use the brick method, and only about £10 to fix at my local scrappy.

Wedge the door open at the top, not to much though.

Then get a coathanger (all metal one) make a loop (but not a closed one) that would be a tight fit over the pull up knob on door. Then with a few trys and swearing at it u will get it hooked on and pull it up

Hey presto door is open :D
