What 1/4 mile times are you 2.7 guys getting? I'm hoping when mine's built it won't dissapoint. My Astra has done a 14.82s, will the 2.7 be around that sort of figure?

well i don't have a 2L7 but i do have a little setup on my B25....
i got stock times out ( with 205/50/15 though & Z3 shifter ) 15.455s
i now run 180hp but 25mkg @ engine on the 2L5 ...now run 14.55s repetedly on the Gmeter....(6.16s best 0-60mph & no lsd)
i think a good driver and a good 2L7 should pull at least 14.2 14.3...
i can say i have a freind who did 1/4 with a M3 3L conversion in an M3 E30 , and ran 13.6 & 13.8 ( stopped after had technical driver shaft probs & went home to repair ) & it only has an extra 40hp in reality...( dynod that M3 @ 275hp
)
but unless you play with shorter gears it all be hard to get under 13s in an E30 with less than 300hp.

Greg wouldn't a close ratio sport box and a slipper help your time?

well actually, i think i have the most advantageous gearbox other the called sport...Simon13 wrote:Greg wouldn't a close ratio sport box and a slipper help your time?
that is , i pull fast up to 100km/h and whan i stick 3rd in i really don't have a hole...
now i have not tested a sport gearbox but considering i rev higher than stock my gears feal just right.
the only actual gearbox i would consider changing for ( to much work for what it is ) would be a gearbox with a 1 ratio as 5th and not 4rth.... ( longer rear diff of course )
i will eventually get myself a lsd but as i get probs finding a descent one at a resonable price here ( corect ration or generation for ratio modification )
April will be my first big 1/4 mile meet and i will be runing Yoko A032R @ the back and hope by then that the big TB will be order and all and same about the MAF conv....
i stilla 4.1 diff but i really hate the thing... i just keeps the engine soo o high up in revs.....but hell it kicks.....
i'm still thinking about making my very own ratio gearbox (allready did it on my P924 ( i knox it the fake porsche
prob is findind all the different BMW gears ratios and the compatible shafts that would fit the original cassing.....its probably the last thing i really am gooing to concentrate on so update about that one really won't be befrore i blow the low end and put a real stoker in my B M double feet

ahh i see so by reving higher than an un chipped car, you can rev past the flat spots

spot onSimon13 wrote:ahh i see so by reving higher than an un chipped car, you can rev past the flat spots
yeah and actually in wy config ( 276° cam & not 280+ ; 11mm lift on that ) i have torq more than power and what your going after in 1/4mile is torq :;)
so i rev 500rpm high than stock ( 6500 on dyno vs 6090 stock ) on my every day chip and 6800+ (reel , means in the milage meter gauge
that all means i never fall under 3800rpm ( 3500min in real ) and no flat spots are felt and get you to loose time .... i've got my setup noted down in the rides section and the most recent dyno plot to. as you can see i have constant power from 5200 5300 to 6500 and a load more torq than the alpina conversion ...
on the other hand, my top speed is only 226km/h real; 240km/h dash...you can't have and top speed and acceleration without a bigger conversion than my Greg Motorsport tweaking
if you see in the ride section again you'll find a small video of a few test i did 2 in the car.....i never pushed it to top speed though as the first high speed was in the woods area and i'm totally out my mind.....

depends on the spec of your 2.7. if its having plenty of money thrown at, and pending that it puts out real power. 210bhp + etc, then it will be close to these times.

was that with the sport gerarbox ? if yes , can some one tell me if the ratios are the following ? : and would then give the following speed @ stoc rpm (6090) and my every day rpm @ 6500 most comon chipped rpm.
1rst = 3.350 @ 6500 = 54kmh ; 34mph
2nd = 2.030 = 90 ; 56
3rd = 1.360 = 135 ; 83
4rth = 1.000 = 183 ; 114
5th = 0.810 = 226 ; 140
final drive = 3.910
now with standard gears and 3.91 finaldrive all @ 6500rpm
1rst = 3.830 = 47km/h & 29mph
2nd = 2.200 = 83 & 51
3rd = 1.400 = 131 & 81
4rth = 1.000 = 183 & 114
5th = 0.810 = 226 & 140
this could be helpfull why with a B25 i get good times ( all this is calculated with 205 50 15 tires )

If that is directed at me, the answer is yes. As for the rest, I do not know.greg325 wrote:was that with the sport gerarbox ?

Your car was at Santa Pod the very day I put in the 14.6.Karan wrote:mine also does a 14.6
Clearly it has been substantially improved since then. How much power does your car now produce?

dunno bout power but has new manifold.
i believe when it was there with ste it ran 16 or something cos of problems with the throttle.....????
im going by gtech times here not at the pod by the way.
car was last dynod at 213hp and 220lb, seems noticeably quicker now with new manifold on it, have yet to get it dynod or mapped

You are correct in saying that it had throttle problems. Quite severe, as I recall.Karan wrote:dunno bout power but has new manifold.

yep that was for you :;)was that with the sport gerarbox ?

i'm geeting startled here... i don't get why you don't have better times than that when at wheels your cars have my engine power and that i have not emptied the car yet....
i' also go by gtech times for the moment but compared to stock on the gtech times where the same as last years offical timing ...so i don't think it that of, and i do really massacre standard B25....
plus i saw that you run 15" on the 2L7 karan and the same as mine in size so you really should whack beter times ....got the short shifter conv? that helps alot :;)
