hi guys,
just in the process of fitting omp 6 point and im confused...
the cage is sitting 4" off the chassie rails at the roll bar and the front mounting feet, ive got 2 x l shaped plated, 2x s shaped plate and 2 flat.
it not obvious as to how they are fitted.
I toying with getting some box section to fit under it but surely this is not right arnt all the legs ment to sit on the rails
Has any one fitted one or got one fitted in their car if so please help, pictures, discriptions anything thats gonna give me a clue as to what im doing wrong. at the moment im wondering it its the right cage at all the certificate that came with it just says M3 the reciept from DT state 3 series 83 - 91. the only other thing is that the base mounting kit is a universal and renault 5 GT turbos.
Im gratful for any ideas now cause ive spent more hours looking at it that doin anythig HELP, PLEASE ANYONE........

Hi
Did you fit it loosly in the car first and have you welded in the door bars before fitting the front bars!
The OMP cage is more difficult to fit Vs Safety devices as you have to weld in the door bars, but if you are not using the door bars it should go in ok with no box sections...have you any pics of what you have done...the top bars etc will only go one way
Not sure without seeing it or knowing how you have gone about fitting re correct advice
Cheers

havent fitted door bars just bolted the front half to the back half and have it fitted loosly cant work out were it supposed to be mounted as the feet cant sit flat on the floor pan as the level of the roof bar is too low. not sure how we are ment to pick up the feet so it still pass scruteneering.

Have you got a sunroof in the car as OMP only do a non sunroof cage...if front legs of back cage are on the floor and front cage is loosly bolts it should be in place...I have one put together out of a car and it stands up flat...the Safety devices which we have set up next to it needs box sections...where are you...depends what events you are going to do but regardless you have to fit it right...are you rallying or racing the car

im joing easytracks production bmw champ next year,
ive already cut out the sunroof tray, and the only legs that are on the floor are the two that pass through the rear bulk head, all four in the main cabin area are 4 inches off the deck, for the bars to hug the roof line and front pillar.
I am fitting it in a 4 door although the kit is for the 2 door but i have compared the interior of both and the only diference is the doors are bigger on the 2 door. DT also confirmed it made no difference.
have you actually fitted a 6 point in, if so did you have to use box section to pack it up. do you or any one have any pictures of how the feet are mounted.

your cage needs to come forward so both front legs and middle 2 are on the main floor pan so 4 inches lower...you are mounting your cage too far back...are you sure you are confident about fittings the door bars etc..as will then need good welding and setting in correct position

it cant go any further fowards as the fromnt bulk head is in the way, in any event the bars will be to low if the feet are on the floor pan the bars are 4 inches from the roof line, which is no good under msa regs.
I spoke to DT today and they claim that these issues have come up on other cages too, im sending pics to msa for clarification.
thanks for your advise

Let me know how you get on but all front 4 legs should go on floor...if you change your mind with OMP I can get you a SD cage but they are more expensive...but dont understand why you cant get it further forward if correct bars on the top etc...let me know cheers

its only a six point cage, it only goes in one way. i must say ive bee concerned by these issues, ive fitted bolt in cages before and they have gone down to the floor. i was suprised when demon tweeks told me that they have come across this before, i had presumned that i just had the wrong cage.
the MSA techs are not impressed that a certified cage requires this level of tweeking. they have asked me to send them pictures of the fit. to take it up with omp.
I must say yhe MSA have been great - they have told me to email pics of what i am proposing to do and if they are happy they will supply me a letter to satisfy scruteneering.

Id also check out the sparco multi point equivalent, DT will do it for under £500, its painted and thes no welding of door bars.
I also have it on good authority that it goes in easier that this omp one is!
the only reason i didnt get it was down to time, they need 6 weeks to deliver it. Im moving house around that time and will have a house to refurbish so i had to take what was available there and then!

Hi
The OMP, Sparco and Safety Devices cages will fit a tourer but these car are getting older and they do not all fit the same...if that makes sense ...not just the cage but the car...
Safety Devices do a sunroof car cage...but we have none instock...we are building 2 tourings at present for Nurburgring...one will just have a B009 sunroof rear cage the other likely to have OMP or Safrty Devices B007 non sunroof cage...OMP do a 6 point or 10 point bolt in...ot can do fully weld in cages to international spec...case of what you want it for and budget
Cheers
