SE just stands for special equipment, unless he had a LSD diff fitted then aint no different from standard 320i

ECU will be the same as the one u have in the standard 320i i guess

I have had 2 325i SE's and both have had the open diff on them

SEs had:
Rear spoiler (small rubber type)
Electric front windows as standard
Alloy wheels (bottle top style) as standard
PAS as standard
Front fogs as standard
Rear armrest seat as standard
6btn OBC as std
lower body kit

you could also specify
electric rear windows on 4dr
electric sunroof
ABS
M-Tech suspension
Aircon
Cruise control
rear sunblind
Sports seats
13btn OBC
Headlamp wash/wipe
M-Tech steering wheel
LSD
15" BBS alloys
Tiinted glass

Most had a better than basic specification cos the folk who wanted an SE usually wanted all the luxury stuff...Hence most have things like the sports seats, BBSs, etc, but don't have the m-tech suspension or LSD cos they would have bought a sport for those options and added the other bits...
