Also my speedo works intermitenly sometimes on sometimes off its up and down like a damn yoyo!!
(where is the sensor/connections) the haynes manual didnt help much Any ideas on the above would be a great help cheers

Hi i have an 89 316i that sometimes cuts out while normal driving (just cuts out dead) then picks up (without doing anything) then cuts out. this happens a couple times then picks up and drives normally again? also sometimes its hard to start and i haer a sort of banging noise coming from the back endof the car!? after a few minutes it will start!?

Speedo'll likely be the connection to the diff (where the wires go into the plug) or if not, where it goes into the cluster.
Fuel pump'd be my guess for the cutting out.
