Hi,
have just bought from wreckers for my 89 mtec2 original (i think) rear exhaust (prevous owner had put in a 323 ones).
i've seen in pics in the zone the tail pipes come out straight, and yet i think i've also seen ones come out at an angle??????
can someone confirm whether the tailpipes of original exhaust should come out straight or angled?????
btw if it helps-
the sticker reads:
bmw 325I-IX-IC MOD.CON CAT
M7936
BW7707
the exhaust reads:
bm 250d/bm24b 1Q
E# 03592T8
The exhaust is in almost new condition (and they're so rare to find).......but have i bought the right ones????
advise appreciated.....thanks!

i thought i depends on if you had a cat or not. here all sports are made in japan and the exhausts are angled, my Mk1 sport also angled, my 320 cab angled, but i am sure uk sports are straight.

i'm in Australia,.....so maybe all the ones here are all angled?
so in the UK are the normal 325i rear exhausts angled at all ? or are they still all straight??
the reason i think mine are original is because the sticker reads: bmw 325I-IX-IC MOD.CON CAT
or is that just an aftermarket sticker??

Some tech 1 rear skirts had an exhaust cut out designed for an angled exhaust outlet. But for tech 2's ive only ever seen straight tailpipes.

sorry I had loads of gaps but they've gone when I 'submit'
they come out angled, but then the last section is bent round straight in the originals, but the later ones they just leave the simple straight pipe coming out at an angle
(I wish I hadn't started this now

I'll have a look tonight...........
but that same part number might mean you end up with the 'new' version of exit pipes if you order it today... if you see what I mean.

I searched all over for straight exit pipes when I changed the back box on my cab. I ended up buying an Ernst back box which has angled pipes and getting them refabricated so they came out straight. The guy who did it said he wished he'd never agreed to do it.
The original BMW back boxes and most replacements (Bosal, Ernst, etc) all now have angled exits. I am told that the straight pipes were specific to the UK market. Now that the replacement market is reduced in size it is no longer viable to produce UK spec back boxes so we get the Europe wide angled pipes.
I think the Arvin back box (as from Kwik Fit and parts factors) still has a straight exit.

the exhaust shown is exactly the same as the one I took off my car, which was the original exhaust (I bought the car with 58k miles) and it's a 1989 chrome-bumper cabbie with no kit - I believe that is simply the shape of the exit pipes of a 325 exhaust produced in 1989.

right - sorry it took so long; I had to take off one of the mounting straps to be able to see the serial number
the numbers on my original 1989 Boysen and this one I found (pictured) are the same and are....
big BMW roundel at the top
ABE Nr. 1712085
Teile Nr. 1719429
Made in Germany
