Help me... I dont know what is going on.

When I turn the car off and take the key out... the car just stays on.

If I stall the car to get it to go off, all the electrics stay on... the the Istrument Cluster, the check lights... etc

If I try and turn it on... the car blows the hooter, and starts (well sometimes it starts, othertimes it just blows the hooter)

No matter what postion the key is in, the electrics stay on.

I thought it might be the ignition switch but it wasn't that...

Help me pls... I'm desperate. I need the car for 2morrow evening.

Sounds like a fault with the OBC (on board computer), pull the wiring to the OBC and see if the problem stops...

There is an article here that tells you how to retrofit the OBC so it might give you some pointers on how to disconnect it! unfortunately there are no photo's ...

Sounds like the ignition is grounding via the horn, try disconnecting the horn or the horn relay if you have one. If that cures it, you've got a short in the horn circuit somewhere.

How would the OBC control the electricals ?

I should add, that this started after some racing at our local strip... car was fine after my run. When I got home, it wouldnt switch off.

I know if the the OBC is retro fitted sometimes you can't turn the engine off! you have to leave some of the wiring disconnected to stop the engine, happened to me!

Try pulling the fuses / relays and see which one causes the engine to stall, go from there...

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch, TBH....maybe a poor connection such as the BAT live shorting to the ACC live terminal, but more likely to be the switch.....

Could be an old alarm thats hidden away somewhere, if not then check the ignition relay and go over the engine loom to see if anything has melted. The last two don't explain the horn sounding though :?

Happen to my old man many years ago in his landcruiser - turned out to be that the starter motor had shorted out internally.

may be worth checking

So I got home and put the whole underside of the steering colum back 2gether. Checked all the relays and what not... pulled the one out that says on the wiring diagram "hi-speed relay" ... and all the electrics switch off. Ok, cool. But then I pushed down on the fuse box, and everything came back on, until I stopped pushing... So. I found the problem... but when I put the relay back in everything was 100% , but there must still be something wrong inside the fuse box.

Oh well, at least I know where it is... so I can go racing 2nite.

Thanks 4 the help guys.
