Erm... like the topic says really - what size tyres came on Hartge E30s with the 16x7.5 rims?

i wish the fecker would blow his own brains out, never mind giving bloodFact #5: When David Hasselhoff goes to donate blood, he declines the syringe, and instead requests a handgun and a bucket.

Don't diss the Hoff. He'll track you down...
Time for the Next Hoff fact, I think. I've got a list of facts about Chuck Norris to come next.

I've got 205/50 on the front and 225/45 on the rear... both are fine for radius (as in pretty much the same as a 205/55/15), but the rears need replacing & I'm trying to decide what to go with... Figure Hartge themselves must have had a reasonable idea!eko wrote:Well ive got 205/45`s on mine but think they supposed to be 50`s

mine have 205/50/16s
but ask Birds - they are the official importer/fitter for Hartge; I've always found them very helpful - I even had an email conversation with the man who designed their suspension set-up for the E30, Kevin Bird (technical director).

Do you use them all round? They're the same dia as 205/50/15s, so I'd have to replace all 4... would definately be tempted when that time comes round though.
Again, all round? That's what I've got on the fronts...orangecurry wrote:mine have 205/50/16s
Cheers guys
Does anyone think I'd have issues with replacing the 225/45s like for like? Rubbing etc?

12. In fine print at on the last page of the Guiness Book of World Records it notes that all world records are held by David Hasselhoff, and those listed in the book are simply the closest anyone has ever come to matching him.

Saw a car with original Hartge rims at Gaydon and the owner was not the type to fuck about with it. It had 205 55 16's michelin pilots on it.

205/50/16 all round
this does give the 'correct' rolling diameter, the same as 195/65/14 or 205/55/15
perhaps the Gaydon Hartge owner wanted Pilot Sports but they don't come in the 'correct' size?
Like I said, just ring Birds if you want to know what they recommend.
http://www.birds.uk.com/
Another intersting fact on tyres - a friend bought some new rears for his TVR, IN THE CORRECT SIZE i.e. the same size as the tyres he was replacing, but he chose a different make (not Bridgestones) and the new tyres rubbed inside the arches......
So even though the tyre 'size' was the same, the SHAPE of the tyre was different.

Well he should 'fuck about' with his tyres as the profile is too high, he needs to have a 50 profile on a 205 width tyre on a 16" rim, in order to attain the correct Diameter.Saw a car with original Hartge rims at Gaydon and the owner was not the type to fuck about with it. 225 40 is also going to be a little small, but probably be nice in terms of performance. 205 50 16 and 225 45 16 have a near identical overall diameter, both will have no negligable effect on speedo accuracy.

MY 225 40s seem to cover the wheel and fit the arch really well.
They are not to small and are cheap enough to destroy.
It is a performance wheel after all.
I just dont like the 205 over a 7.5inch wheel they wrap
around the rim and only really provide good
steering feel when they are at 36psi plus!

indeed theo they are with tenths of mm to an original 15bbs with 205/55/15 tyre so no adverse effects on the speedo whatsoever!

Cheers guys...
I'll give Birds a buzz, but I think what I'll do for the moment is try the 225/45s I've got & if they don't rub, get some more, otherwise go with 205/50s like the front.
225/40s sound like the way forward when I need a new set all round though!
So now onto brands...! Are yours T1-r Andrew? My current ones are Pzeros...

I'll summarise what everyone is about to say
either
1) do a search - we've argued about this already
or
2) Goodyear F1, then Toyos a close 2nd, then everything else
my personal preferance (and I've tried F1s then P-zeros back-to-back) in 205/50/16 is the F1s by a huge margin.

Hence the "...!" bit!
Not heard anyone's actual opinions on P-zero(asimmetrico)'s though? I'd probably have tried to find a pair to match...

well I had the F1s - they were worn down to the wearbars and still gripped solidly in the wet, but a friend went on and on about how good the assims were on his car, so I bought a set.
Immediately the confidence in the wet had gone. On a wet roundabout the zeros would let go much sooner - very nice and progressive slip, but slip they do.
In the dry the F1s have so much more rubber on the road - they are more like semi-slicks; they really are a level above.

Hmmm... sounds like I might be in for understeer city if I get some F1s on the back then
Might make do with whatever I come across (no cheap $hite ta!), then get a full set of F1s next time... Everyone seems to love em, but they're about the only tyre I've not yet tried!
Thanks

Call yourself a nerd when you've spent weeks (months probably!) searching for a pair of 205/60 r13 NCT2s!
(would ideally have been the original NCT, but what chance?!)

225 40 16 are so close to 205 50 16 that you wont notice the difference except when driving.
I have T1rs i think they are much better than pzeros

I've got some almost 'new' NCT2s in the shed.... though they are 185/60/14s IIRC, but I'm sure with some glue and tape you could get them on 13" wheelsZiggy wrote:Call yourself a nerd when you've spent weeks (months probably!) searching for a pair of 205/60 r13 NCT2s!(would ideally have been the original NCT, but what chance?!)
I've got a 'new' 196/65/14 which is on the 'new' bottletop alloy that was the unused spare in my BMW when I bought it
