Do i have to use a specific gearbox or will a sports gearbox work? if it does is it an ok choice?

M20 Sports box...? Won't match up to the M30 unit... will it?

dogleg from an m535i is m30 :D

Though i will most likey start reverseing when on track with one of those, the hunt starts then, cheers sexy!

Get the parts from an E34. Then you will have most of the bits you need.

Yeah, get the E34 box as the dog legs arn't supossed to be very durable.

Not 100% sure but the 535 Sport has longer ratio's in 1,2+3 like the E30 Sports box

I'm running an E34 535i manual box on mine.
Wouldn't have thought a close ratio 'box is really necessary with the torque of the M30 engine! winkeye

I'm afraid that won't fit the M30 engine, I believe.

The M20 gearboxes from the E30 (the Getrag 240 and 260) will not bolt up to the M30. You need a Getrag 280 (M5), Getrag 265 (E30 M3 and some 5,6 and 7 series), or the Getrag 260 from an M30.

I've heard the internals from an M20 Sports box will fit into the M30 box... I think Toby's got the parts to do this and was going to play with it...
