After roughly 2 years of owning my 318i I have finally done what I have had planned for for ages now thanks to Shaz325isport and his mate Ben. My write off/claim is no longer on my insurance history and I have worked up to a 4 yr NCB and can now have reasonable insurance cover for a 325 :D

My car has been converted to a 325i sport basically, boasting a 2.5 engine, 3.91 LSD, sports gearbox and all the usual ancillaries including OBC and anti-roll bars.

The conversion was done a few weeks ago and I had the anti roll bars fitted by Shaz and Ben on Saturday morning. I am proper loving having a 2.5 under the bonnet. The sound and performance is great, making me feel all grown up! (I am actually 23 but you know what I mean). Just knowing I have the capability now to really pull away/over take is very satisfying. The 1.8 was fun and could still be more than a match for some of the corsa boys etc but the 2.5 is another level. Obviously it doesn't exactly go into warp speed compared to some modern sports cars but definitely puts a smile on my face!

My car is by no means mint and there might have been some sence in just biting the bullit and selling my car when it was a 318i and just buying a 325i but its got sentimental attachment and I had said I was going to do it and I like to think I do what I say. I'm pretty sure I've made the right decision. Theres plenty more I have planned for it but I've got to save up a few more pay cheques not to mention a holiday in Ibiza next week which will no doubt set me back a bit!

Gotta say a big thanks and recommendation for Shaz325isport and his mate Ben for picking my car up, supplying and fitting the parts to keep project e30 going. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone who perhaps dont have the time, tools, space or knowledge to do this kind of work to their e30 and dont fancy getting ripped off by some pricks at a garage. These guys are genuine blokes and e30 enthusiasts. We agreed a price and they did what they said they were going to do.

Will put some pics up soon.

Nick  :D

Thanks mate! Whats the latest with yours? Whens it come out of the bodyshop?
Yeah, I've been aching to get the conversion done for a while now and did come across spells of thinkin I might just sell it and buy a straight up 325i sport. I even had thoughts of saving up a for a while and getting a corrado or even a 944 but decided I'd rather finish what I started not to mention have some cash left over to spend on other things - if I had of got something like a 944 I'm sure I'd still be adding to my left over student debt!
Wasn't there whilst Shaz and Ben were doing the conversion but they have told me a few handy things. I'm sure they could tell me more if I asked. But for the mean time I'm just aching to get the bodywork mint now along with a couple of minor things like short shifter and itg filter maybe but next year will be more for the tuning/modding stage. By Christmas I just want to get a 100% solid car inside and out.

Thanks guys!

Yeah I got some before pics. Hope to get the most recent pics off my mate tomorrow evening, then I'll put them all up.

I've kept it looking like a 318i with an iS front lip. The mtec kits look quite meaty but I quite like the more slender look of the iS. I've even kept my chrome window surrounds to keep it that bit more retro.

Anyways will post pics soon I hope, although I'll probably start a seperate thread in the photos section showing the before pics also.

bmwe30mtech - have you fitted all the springs yet?

Sweet mate. Lookin forward to the pics. But seriously dude, once you get old enough to insure and run a 325i. Do it! Mind you the 318 is a pretty sweet car to earn your NCB with in the mean time. I started off with a mazda 323 e reg (which is the one i wrote off), then a panda 4x4 8O , then a fiesta mk4 then finally the beemer :)
